Adding tag-content to another tag (e.g. remix to tracktitle)

Postby Jordakh » Mon Jan 02, 2006 11:26 pm

Small question: How can I copy or move the remix- and subtitle-tag of a track to the end of the tracktitle-tag (without removing the title)? The action manager doesn't seem to allow adding tags to other tags...

The reason why I'm asking this, is that Media Center 2005 doesn't support remix or subtitle tags. Too bad, I know. :( But since it's my primary player (very nice jukebox mode + xbox 360 can act as extender) I'm obliged to revert these fields (remix, subtitle) back to the tracktitle field.

Let's bump this question up.

The Remix & Subtitle field are rarely used on other players like iPhone or Squeezebox. Better not to use these fields if you want to see this info on other players...

I just begun to move the end of the title into the subtitle & remix field. Hopefully there is a solution for this, otherwise this work isn't worth doing... Can these fields not be added at the back of the field title in the tag?

I second that. Even when using a cell phone, the remix field is not showed on the title songs. I need, to, someway to append the remix field to the title.

Is it possible to append a field value in another field using the action editor?

This is not currently possible I'm afraid. I have created an internal ticket to discuss the possibilities to include such an action in a future release.

If you have MS Office (or perhaps Open Office?) you could work round by copying the individual columns from the Tag Editor to an Excel worksheet and then use Excel's concatenate function to combine the two columns and then paste back. It's fairly easy to do.

I use this facility quite a lot to bulk update Tags that have individual data such as Record Labels and Cataogue numbers.

I want this functionality too. I believe I discussed about such a feature per email either with you or Mikael. Or I could be wrong and it was in the forum. Anyway, I reckon the best way would be to support RegExp in action manager, that way it would be fairly simple to insert, replace or remove parts of field values to different fields. Or even more hard core solution would be to support JavaScript (which in turn supports RegExp) to allow even more complicated (read: conditional) manipulation of field data.
