Introduction to the Export/Import Player Data toolThe Export/Import Player Data is a tool which allows you to export player data from one database and import it to another. This is an ideal tool if you are using more than one database and would like to keep the play statistics in sync.
For example, you may have your full music collection and Helium Music Manager database at home and a subset of the collection in another database at work. All music you play when you are at work will not be registered in your home database by default, thus the playing statistics will not be correct.
Using this tool will help you to synchronize the playing between your work and home databases so that the home database will always be up-to-date.
The tool will update:
Playcounter for each file (Database and Tags)
Rating for each file (Database and Tags)
Playing history (Database only)
Follow the steps below to export player data from one Database:
Start the Export/Import Player Data tool from Tools | Database | Export/Import Player Data
Select the Export Player Data To File radio button.
Select which type of data you would like to export from the Export type list. The following types are available:

Follow the steps below to import player data from a file:
Select the Import Player Data From File radio button
Select the file you would like to import player data from by clicking the Browse... button. When you select a file, Helium Music Manager will process the contents and match with the data in your active Database.
When the file has been loaded, the tool will display matched results. Each entry will be displayed with the following columns:
Filename - The original filename from the export file
Matched Filename - The filename Helium Music Manager matched with this file
Song Information - The original song information from the export file (Artist - Title - Album)
Matched Song Information - The song information from the file Helium Music Manager has matched
Current Rating - The rating for the matched file, currently stored in your Database
New Rating - The rating from the export file
Current Playcounter - The playcounter for the matched file, currently stored in your Database
New Playcounter - The playcounter value from the export file
Action - Which action that should be performed on the selected entry. Change action for one or more entries using the Selected Action list.
Current Filesize - The original filesize from the export file
Matched Filesize - The filesize from the file Helium Music Manager has matched
Current Length - The original song length from the export file
Matched Length - The song length from the file Helium Music Manager has matched
Change any incorrect matched files to their correct filename by selecting the incorrectly matched entry and either double-clicking or by clicking the Select Track... button. If you will keep one or more files as they are, change their action to Leave, from the Selected Action list.
If you would like the changes to be written to both your database and your tags, click the Update Tags checkbox. If you would like to keep your tags as they are, un-select the Update Tags checkbox.
Click OK to apply the changes to your Database and optionally to your tags.
When importing data, entries in the list may have different background color. These colors means the following:
Light-red means that the entry is unmatched - Helium Music Manager were unable to automatically locate a match for you. You will need to select the correct match by yourself.
Light-grey means that the original data is identical with the matched data and the entry will not be changed.
Light-green means that the entry is matched and marked for updating. The action for these entries will be defaulted to Update.
White means that the data in your active Database seems more up-to-date than the data from the export file. The action for these entries will be defaulted to Leave.
