Become a webradio DJ with Helium Music Manager

Introduction

Helium Music Manager offers you the opportunity to very easily become a webradio DJ by integrating Nullsoft's SHOUTCast system into its Internal Player system.
By running a webradio server on your machine you can let anyone from the world wide know what you are listening to.

Getting Started

Setting up the server
The first task you need to perform is to install a SHOUTCast server on your machine.
You can download the SHOUTCast server for free from http://www.shoutcast.com/download/serve.phtml.
This page contains all necessary details of how you should configure your server as well as related information.

Downloading the client plug-in
To enable Helium Music Manager to stream out your music playback onto the Internet you must download and install the SHOUTCast DSP plugin for Winamp (which is used by Helium Music Manager) from the following URL: http://www.shoutcast.com/download/broadcast.phtml (the plug-in can be found under the "Download the SHOUTcast DSP Plug-In for Winamp 5.x".
Install the plug-in (it will be installed in Winamp's plug-in folder by default) and then copy the files dsp_sc.dll, lamedll.dll and dsp_sc.ini (if it exists) to Helium Music Manager's installation folder. Once the files have been copied you no longer need to keep the downloaded winamp plugin if you don't want to.

You are now ready to start Helium Music Manager and perform the last setup steps.

Configuring Helium Music Manager for Shoutcasting
Please note that the following configuration is only required if you want to shoutcast. If you use a player other than "Internal Player (BASS Engine)" for your playback then Helium Music Manager will not shoutcast.
When you start Helium Music Manager, there's only one important option that must be set to enable shoutcasting:
You must select
"Internal Player (BASS Engine)" as your player. Click "Tools | Options" and select the Player & Playlists page. Select the topmost radio button, "Internal Player (BASS Engine)".

Restart Helium Music Manager and the SHOUTCast Source client window will be shown.

Adjust the encoder/output settings and connect when you all options are set. (Please visit http://www.shoutcast.com for full details about the possible options).

Assuming you have configured and started the Shoutcast server you downloaded at the beginning of this tutorial, then everything you are playing through Helium Music Manager will now be streamed out on the Internet!

If you tick the Auto option In the Shoutcast Source Client "Output tab | Yellowpages | Enable Title Updates | Title", Meta data (title, artist etc.) will be generated and sent to your listeners for each track that's played and also for subtracks.
