Applying subtracks to your music files

Introduction

Subtracks is a Helium Music Manager specific feature that allows you to store multiple tracks within one major track.
By using subtracks you can easily play a specific track contained within the main track from Helium Music Manager.

Helium Music Manager allows you to search for subtracks in your music library in the same manner as for any other tracks.

Examples when the Subtracks can be used:

  • A live concert, recorded entirely in one take
  • A single composition, comprising several movements (i.e. Classical music)
  • Songs ripped from an Audio-CD, where all the songs are combined together in one track

Working with subtracks

This guide will only introduce the term subtracks to you and not describe the subtracks editor in detail.

To apply subtracks to a file, you should use the Subtrack Editor.

When you have added subtracks to a file, the Internal Player will recognize that the file contains subtracks the next time the file is being played.
You can see all subtracks by clicking the button in the Internal Player which shows a menu containing all subtrack titles.

If your subtracks have lengths defined you can click one of the subtracks in this menu to directly start playing this track.
The information texts in the Internal Player will show the name of the current subtrack.

If you prefer to not use subtracks it is possible to extract all subtracks as single tracks by using the Subtrack Splitter tool.
