SFV Checker

The SFV Checker can verify that your tracks are in good condition by analyzing the files against an SFV file.

Using the SFV Checker

Start the SFV Checker by clicking the Tools > SFV Checker option from the main menu.

The SFV Checker dialog contains two lists. The left list will contain your SFV files and the right list will contain the files that the selected SFV file refers to.

Adding SFV files to the list

To add a single SFV file to the list:

  • Click the Add File button.

  • Browse to the location of your SFV file and click Open.

To add multiple SFV files to the list:

  • Click the Add Files button.

  • Browse to a folder containing one or more SFV files and click OK. The selected folder will be scanned recursively for SFV files to be loaded.

Verifying your music files against the SFV files

To verify the contents of a single or multiple selected SFV files:

  • Select the SFV files you want to verify from the left list. Use Shift-click, Ctrl-click or drag'n'select to select multiple SFV files.

  • Click the Verify Selected button to verify the selected SFV files. Wait for the process to finish before browsing the results.

To verify all SFV files in the list click the Verify All button.

Analyzing the results

After the verification process is finished the SFV files in the left list will be marked with a colored icon. This icon indicates condition of the files in the SFV files.

A green icon means that all files were in good condition. A red icon indicates that one or more files did not match the SFV file, which could mean that the file is corrupted or that information is missing.

Click on an SFV file with a red icon to display detailed information of which file or files that was in bad condition.

Warning:

  • If any information is changed on a music file (such as editing information in the Tag Editor or setting a rating to it) will make the file turn up in red in the SFV Checker. This is due to the fact that the file does no longer contain the exact same information as when the SFV file was created. This means that a file showing up in red does not necessarily need to be corrupted or otherwise faulty. It may just be that the file has been modified within, or outside of Helium Music Manager.
